Energy Efficiency and Indoor Air Quality

On January 29, a Knickerbocker Group designer attended the Maine Indoor Air Quality Council's seminar on Energy Efficiency and Indoor Air Quality. Topics included:

· Heating system selection (from fuel availability & equipment cost considerations, to life cycle costs & carbon footprint).

· Insulation techniques (effective and innovative).

· Unique survey results for Maine (conducted by the American Lung Association on changes in heating strategies due to rising fuel costs and anticipated residual health effects).

· Basements and crawl space discussion (heat loss, health issues, particularly mold and radon, construction and renovation tips).
